Report:
The St. Joe River has been fishing really well lately. While it's not yet in its full "summer" shape, the river still has a good volume of water. We have had many guided float trips recently and have observed a variety of hatches, with Yellow Sallies being especially prevalent in the late morning. Depending on your location, you might also encounter PMDs, Golden Stones, Green Drakes, and Caddis.
Some stretches of the river may still feel "pushy" at these flows, but overall, the St. Joe is in excellent condition for June. Dry/dropper rigs are highly effective, especially for prospecting. Try using a chubby or stone dry fly with a 3-4' dropper. Effective droppers include perdigons, tungsten pheasant tails, or caddis pupa. It's June—get out there and go fishing!
